01Accepting these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to https://legalutility.in and all tools on it (together, the "Service"), run by LegalUtility ("we", "us"). By using the Service or creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
02The Service
LegalUtility offers free online tools for legal, tax and office work, currently including PDF Tools, Image Tools, Bank Statement to Excel, ITR Computation and GST E-commerce (GSTR-1 JSON from marketplace reports).
- Some features need a free account, for example combining several marketplaces in one GSTR-1 and ITR Computation. Guests can use GST E-commerce for one marketplace at a time.
- We may add, change, limit or remove tools or features at any time.
- If we ever introduce paid features, they will be clearly marked and will not apply to you unless you choose them.
03Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and give accurate details.
- One account is for one person. Keep your password safe and do not share your account.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- If you sign in with Google, Google's own terms also apply to your Google account.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, puts other users or the Service at risk, or where the law requires it.
- You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
04Not professional advice. Please check before filing.
- Results such as GSTR-1 JSON files and ITR computations depend entirely on the files and details you provide, including marketplace reports that may contain errors, missing data or changes after download.
- You are responsible for checking every figure against your books, invoices and marketplace TCS statements before you file anything with the GST portal, the Income Tax Department or any other authority.
- Tax laws, portal formats and rates change. We try to keep the tools current but cannot guarantee that they reflect the latest rules on any given day.
- Filing a return, and any tax, interest, late fee or penalty arising from it, remains your responsibility (or your client's).
05Your files and data
- You keep all rights to the files you process and to the results.
- You confirm you have the right to process the files you use, including any personal or financial data of your clients or their customers in them.
- How we handle files is explained in the Privacy Policy. In short: most tools work in your browser, and GST E-commerce reports are processed on our server and not stored.
- Keep your own copies of important files. We do not provide storage or backup.
06Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or to make false documents or returns
- upload malware or files designed to harm the Service or other users
- try to get around login requirements, usage limits or security, or access other people's accounts
- overload the Service with automated or bulk requests, or scrape it
- copy, resell or re-host the Service, or present it as your own
- process other people's personal data without the right to do so
07Intellectual property
The website, its design, text and software belong to LegalUtility or its licensors and are protected by law. You may use the Service for your own work and your clients' work, but not copy or redistribute it.
Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Google and other names are trademarks of their owners. They are used only to describe which reports the tools work with. LegalUtility is not affiliated with or endorsed by them, the GST Network or the Income Tax Department.
08The Service is provided "as is"
We work hard to make the tools accurate and reliable, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose.
09Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or data, or any tax, interest, late fee or penalty that results from using the Service or its results
- our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. For free tools this amount is nil.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
10Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of how you used the Service, or because you broke these Terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses that result.
11Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will show a notice on the website or email account holders. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
12Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts at India, and we will first try to resolve it with you informally.
