LegalUtility is a free set of online tools and guides for the everyday paperwork of legal and tax work in India. It is built for advocates and their clerks, chartered accountants and tax practitioners, and small businesses, especially online sellers on Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho, who spend hours each month on jobs that should take minutes.
Why we built it
Much of this work is mechanical but unforgiving: merging and compressing a court bundle until the portal accepts it, adding up a 40-page bank statement, turning three marketplaces' reports into one GSTR-1, or presenting a filed return as a readable computation of income. General-purpose tools either do not understand Indian formats, or ask you to upload confidential client files to unknown servers. We wanted tools that understand GST state codes, Indian number formats and ITR JSON, and that keep files private.
What we offer
How we work
- Privacy first. PDF Tools, Image Tools, the Bank Statement Calculator, ITR Computation and the Project Report Generator run in your browser, so those files never reach our server. GST E-commerce reports are processed on our server only to prepare the return and are not stored. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
- Checked against real returns. The GSTR-1 generator is tested against returns actually filed on the GST portal, table by table, before each update. Every tool shows a preview or reconciliation so you can check the result before relying on it.
- Free to use. PDF Tools, Image Tools and the Bank Statement Calculator work without an account. GST E-commerce, ITR Computation and the Project Report Generator need a free account, which takes a few seconds with Google or email. The site is supported by advertising.
- Kept up to date. When GST tables, rates or ITR formats change, we update the tools and the related guides, and show the review date on each guide.
What we are not
LegalUtility is not a law firm or a firm of chartered accountants, and nothing on the site is professional advice for a particular case. The tools prepare documents and figures from the files you provide; you, or your professional adviser, remain responsible for checking them before filing. We are not affiliated with the GST Network, the Income Tax Department, the eCourts project, or Amazon, Flipkart or Meesho.
